Paris 2010 : personalized version
An unusual exercise: the revival of a book published (A paris in 2010) to dedicate it and personalize some pictures for a close friend. The comparison of the two books is not without interest.

Iceland
First contact with Iceland during an itinerant journey along the southern and Est coasts of this this large island. Capital with an intimate impression, great nature almost virgin, scattered habitat, omnipresence of the sea and a sumptuous minerality, in places, well watered ... It remains to complete the tour, another time in the right season, to enter the depths of the volcanic massifs of the center. Another trip!
In Portugal in 2015

In Hokkaido, Japan
Between volcanoes and clouds, sea and forests, the large northern island described partially and subjectively by some images of animals, flowers, colors, freshness and some haikus (short traditional poems) to try to make feel the so specific atmosphere of this extreme island of the Japanese archipelago.

Shearing of ewes in Haute Loire 2020
A new experience out of the ordinary: to be welcomed at the farm by the Besse family and the shearers' team who shared their know-how and hard work, one day shearing ewes in the hamlet of Maméas Haut, in Haute Loire.
The shed, filled by the noise and the animation of men and women, each at his post, and that of the ewes and the dogs, all living the intense tension of the moment. Tools so well run in, gestures so precise, so fast, so impeccably efficient, but so gentle and so respectful of the animals. Wool that falls in less than two minutes, in one piece, which is piled up again and again. The ewes gathered behind the barriers, those to be passed and those already sheared. What a collective synergy so perfectly orchestrated, almost without words. And finally this human intensity during the meal shared around the large table in the modern farm's kitchen.
May these images be a gift of thanks and reciprocity for these moments of life shared in all authenticity!

Japanese Sensations
Snapshots collected in Japan, in the city or in the countryside, characters, objects, multiple details likely to translate and transmit, my aesthetic impressions in this country which resembles no other, combining ancient tradition and deep base of belief contrasting with a vigorous modernism ... Fascinating, impenetrable, shimmering, very graphic, the apparent oppositions are only fruitful complementarities. A real bouquet of sensations!
Surimpressionism 2012 (1/2)
Taking advantage of the technical possibilities of the Nikon D4 and D5 cameras It was possible realize, during the shooting, a superimposition of images (from 1 to 9 in a maximum delay of 30 seconds), directly on the sensor. Contrary to a post-production work with photographic retouching software, this practice requires reflection prior to shooting. It is imperative to take into account as precisely as possible the following parameters: general and spotted lighting, contrasts, color range, possible movements of the scene or subjects to be superimposed to obtain an interesting effect, either by addition or subtraction. This direct exercise "without net", has fascinated me for several years. Here is the first of the three collections made in this spirit.

Tokyo: Tsukiji fish market
The old fish market of Tokyo was located in the city. It is a privilege to have been able to wander there freely and to have twice experienced the sound and visual atmosphere of these narrow alleys criss-crossed by feverish professionals, lined with stalls so colorful and so diverse, tightly so close together ... However, we understand that for reasons of rationality and hygiene, a new modern market now replaces it in Toyosu. Modernity has broken the charm of what was one of the major living places of Tokyo in the past.

Old buildings, old machines, period tools and crafts from long ago are patiently gathered and presented in an ecomuseum near the village center. As a photographer traveling through the area, I wanted to bear witness to their commitment and to all the work they have already accomplished in the service of their local heritage.
